COSMOS Online* Cultural

Cosmos Cultural is a business unit with social responsibility manifested through publishing projects. Through this effort, we are formally committed to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the Mexican culture.

Our most recent work "El Códice Florentino al través de sus cuadros" by César Macazaga y Ordoño is the only version accurately depicting the Sahagún text with its corresponding picture or illustration. It is the encyclopedia or the substratum of wise and human knowledge of native Mesoamerican culture. .

No other pictographic document matches its value and educational expertise, through its magnificent collection of religious thought and social language, geography, history, clothing, food, medicine, natural resources and scientific and technological concepts developed by our Aboriginal people.

The author found it necessary to present this new edition in a convenient situation, according to its two constituent parts: text and images. In regard to the text, with the peculiarity of selecting, from out of all that great work, only the parts pertaining to the images. Accordingly, the volume of the edition was reduced considerable, while the contents thereof were reinvigorated, without introducing outside versions.

Thus came to be "El Códice Florentino al través de sus cuadros", with a reproduction of its plates numbered and subdivided into pictures with their respective numbers, organized by Francisco del Paso y Troncoso.

Yacatecuhtli y Cóyotl Ináhual
Book 9, plate 60/76

The neighborhood of the Amantecas and the neighborhood of the Pochtecas were next to each other. And the gods of the Amantecas and of the Pochtecas were also paired. One was called Yiacatecuhtli, who is the god of merchants and the other was called Cóyotl Ináhual, who is the god of the Amantecas. When they sat down for get together events, the merchants sat on one side, while the officers of the feather sat on the other. They were almost equal in their haciendas and in parties or banquets.

The golden rule of this didactic work is:

The texts are accompanies by their respective images. The images are accompanied by their respective texts.

This combination, coupled with the support provided by the book's subject index, provides two possible uses:

1. Personal or curricular knowledge of the subject.

2. An opening for professional studies of pre-Hispanic knowledge, either through one's own initiative, or through the guidance or orientation offered by teachers.
